Security, privacy, and the questions behind them.

Straight answers on where your data lives, who can reach it, and how an open platform keeps you in control.

With CDT Hosted, the platform runs on sovereign infrastructure — managed for you in Canada, or installed by our team on infrastructure you choose — so your data stays within the jurisdiction you require. If you self-host the containerized stack, your data never leaves your own infrastructure.

Only the people you authorize. Access is governed by role-based permissions on a least-privilege model, and every sign-in is protected by multi-factor authentication. On self-managed deployments no one outside your organization has access at all — and we never sell or share your data.

Read about roles & permissions

Yes. The core is published under the AGPL-3.0 licence, so you can read, audit, self-host, and modify the source — there is no proprietary black box. A separate commercial licence is available for organizations that need different terms, and any revenue funds the non-profit's mission.

The platform is built on open standards — IFC, GeoJSON, LAS, BCF, and IDS — so you can export your data in bulk and self-host the open-source core at any time. You can even add new tools and viewers through the plugin system without forking the codebase. Your investment stays portable.

See the open standards we use

Absolutely. CDT ships as a containerized stack that starts with a single command via Docker or Podman — entirely on-premise or in your own cloud — giving you complete control over data, network, and integrations.
